First class tips
Top tips to help you settle into your first BJJ class
Joining a new class can feel like a big step, but beginner BJJ is built for people who are just getting started. You can learn at your own pace, ask questions whenever you need to and focus on the basics one step at a time.
- Wear clean sports clothing such as a T-shirt with shorts or joggers.
- Arrive a little early so we can say hello, show you around and help you settle in.
- Trim your fingernails and toenails, remove jewellery and bring some water.
- Tell the coach about any injuries, worries or questions before class starts.
Expectations
You do not need to keep up with anybody else. The right pace on day one is simply your own pace.
